KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.14 g, 5 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, 323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in field to left, bee above M; below throne, monogram. Price 3619. Struck on a very broad flan and with a reverse of exceptionally fine style. Good very fine.
